Sometimes wedding plans change, and your family ranch wedding in August makes a move to Jackson Hole in June. You get to have peonies in your bouquets and the majestic Tetons in your wedding pictures. Winning all around. Regardless of your wedding destination, you can’t lose in Wyoming.

The Bride wore an A-line dress by DAALARNA with spaghetti straps and delicate details while the groom wore a navy suit. The bridesmaids wore their choice of style and color in dusty rose, blush and, mauve from Azazie.

The bride requested a lush flower crown to wear for the day and we filled it with blush spray roses, delicate ranunculus, tiny waxflower, and blushing bride protea to coordinate with the groom’s boutonnière.

Paige and Luke chose to have a first look at their ceremony location followed by a mid-day adventure with their bridal party for portraits with the Teton’s and the famous T.A. Moulton Barn on Mormon Row.

They returned to Snow King in Jackson Hole for an afternoon ceremony with their family and friends in front of a circle arch with flowers in blush and ivory. The aisle was marked with wooden pillars topped with lanterns and simple bunches in blush attached to the chairs.

We used their bouquets as decor for their head table - you’d never know they’d been out and about all day in the sun and still looked stunning for their reception that evening. We added flowers to their three-layer naked cake instead of traditional toppers.

Congratulations!!

A Mountaintop wedding in Rust & Sage

Kaylie & Gerrit planned a mountaintop ceremony and rustic-chic reception at Meadowlark Ski Lodge for their August wedding in the Big Horn Mountains.

The groom wore a three-piece charcoal suit and paisley sage-green tie while the ladies wore an assortment of dresses from David’s Bridal in Dusty Sage. The bride found her stunning Essense of Australia gown at Dora Grace Bridal and looked absolutely incredible in the graphic lace.

Buffalo, WY-based wedding Dani Jerry Photography captured the day and all the magical details. As a florist, it always makes my heart happy to see the flowers we dreamed of with clients captured in all their glory and edited in true-to-life colors.

Kaylie wanted her bouquet to feel rustic and warm, reflecting the natural beauty of our Big Horn Mountains and the wildness of Wyoming. I used a variety of eucaluptus and grevelia, bronze amaranth, finely textured calycinia, Sweet William, toffee roses, and fragrant tuberose for her bouquet.

For their reception, they utilized our bulk, DIY greenery for simple faux garland on the long tables at the lodge. Paired with rust table runners, simple pillar candles, and antlers they had the perfect look for their reception and stayed within their budget for decor.

Their wedding venue in the Big Horn Mountains came with gorgeous farm tables and rustic chairs in addition to the striking views at Meadowlark Ski Lodge. You can choose between a mountaintop ceremony with stunning vistas of the Big Horn Mountains, Lakeside beauty or the lovely deck for your ceremony.

Congratulations!

Wildflowers in June

After meeting and falling in love while working at the HF Bar Ranch, these lovebirds planned a laidback, boho-western destination wedding near Sheridan, WY from their home in Oregon.

Their intimate ceremony took place at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan, WY followed by a reception at the Barn in Big Horn.

The bridal party wore sage green dresses and slate grey coats with blue jeans for the wedding. Inspired by the natural beauty of Wyoming wildflowers, we planned wild bouquets with vivid color and lots of texture were perfect July wedding colors.

Sarah is a talented leather artist and made her own custom bouquet wrap featuring her favorite flowers and initials. It was the perfect finish for her wildflower-inspired bouquet.

While her bouquet was inspired but the natural beauty of Wyoming wildflowers, we aren’t able to use actual wildflowers. Instead, we use this vision to influence our flower choices like asters, campanula, sweet-william, queen anne’s lace, rosemary, Craspedia, and grasses. When should you book your wedding florist?

Congratulations! You’re getting married and planning the beginning of a new life together. It can be exciting and overwhelming all at the same time. Now, onto the fun and challenging part. Who will be there? Where will you host them? How much money do you have to spend on a wedding? Do you have colors or a theme? What should everyone wear? Flowers and invitations and food and linens and photography - the list is endless.

Naturally, we’re all more excited about some parts of planning than others. Maybe it’s the food you’ll get to share. Or the music you’ll dance the night away to. Or maybe, it’s the flowers that set the tone for the entire day and bring all the pieces together.

Now, I’m not a wedding planner, but I talk to many couples about planning and have compiled a few resources to help you get started.

As a general rule of thumb - you should have your date and venue locked in before booking additional vendors, including your florist. This way, we can ensure availability for your date and typically happens 6-12 months before your wedding. Now if you have your heart set on a specific, vendor, checking their availability before setting a date can’t hurt. (Just know we might not provide a full proposal before you’re booked.)

The basics Whirly Girl requires for booking your date is a confirmed (under contract) venue to ensure your date and a few inspiration pictures to get an idea of what you’re dreaming of. If you have an idea of your colors or style (classic, rustic, elegant, wild) and a general idea of your guest list it’ll help.

Things you don’t need to book your florist: final numbers of pretty much anything (flower girls, boutonnieres, even guest tables). A general idea is helpful but we understand these specific details will come together as your planning continues and will be finalized 4-6 weeks ahead of your wedding.

A mountaintop wedding in green

Bride and groom overlooking a mountaintop lake for a destination wedding at Meadowlark Lake in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming

These lovebirds planned a mountaintop ceremony at Meadowlark Ski Lodge in August. They were gifted with a gloriously sunny, bluebird day (without wildfire smoke!) surrounded by their friends and loved ones.

Jewel wanted a bouquet that had a woodsy feel, full of ferns, succulents, lots of texture, and a calming feel. I used rosemary, a giant large tillandsia xerographica air plant, and silvery protea along with eucalyptus and delicate white orchids to go with her theme of dark green and silver for their August wedding colors.

They used our customizable tiny wedding packages for their wedding, splurging on the bouquet of her dreams, a boutonniere for the groom, and a special arrangement for their reception in the lodge.
