Equestrian Center Inspiration

Making magic with friends and creating something simply because it is a great exercise. When Ashley reached out and asked if I wanted to jump in on a styled shoot at The Big Horn Equestrian Center with Cassie Madden, I enthusiastically said yes!

With an equestrian theme and colors in deep pink, pale blue, and gold accents, I was ready to make the perfect bouquet and something dramatic for the table. With some fancy garden roses, oats to wave in the breeze, and some crabapple branches from my front yard, I loved what came out of the creative practice.

The week before our shoot, I was at a local jeweler to have some work done on my wedding ring. While there, a guy giddy with excitement was picking up an engagement ring for a proposal on the mountain. Low and behold, they were our models! Their joy and love are evident in the images captured by Cassie.

This shoot was featured in Rocky Mountain Bride V5, available online and in print nationally at Barnes & Noble.

A Vineyard Wedding at Lake Chelan in Navy

When Christina contacted me about her September wedding at Karma Vineyards overlooking Lake Chelan in Washington, I couldn’t wait to start planning. She wanted their wedding to be glamorous with the ladies in navy gowns and the men in classic black suits. Her vision included long tables with fluffy white flowers and minimal greenery spread under the bistro lights during their ceremony.

We used loads of white hydrangea, roses, ranunculus, and lisianthus to pull off this polished look along with dozens of candles.

Surrounded by their families and treasured friends, they said, ‘I do’ on a bluff overlooking the lake and followed with a party under the lights in the vineyard. The entire evening was magical.

Congratulations!!!

Did you know I’m available for travel to destinations outside of Wyoming for your wedding? I have a soft spot for this part of Washington (Wenatchee, Chelan, Leavenworth) and would love to bring the flower magic for your big day. I have access to a gorgeous studio for flower making and am an expert at planning long distance. Planning a Washington Wedding and wanting Whirly Girl Flowers to be there? Let’s chat.

A Black and White Wedding at the Brinton Museum

Jake and Audrey planned a glamorous black and white wedding at The Brinton Museum in August. The ladies all in black dresses of their choosing, the men wearing dark charcoal suits with skinny black ties. The amber glass jars she picked for the reception sparked my imagination and helped me pick a few unique flower and foliage choices for her bouquet.

Audrey provided me with some inspiration and general color preferences and left the rest up to me. We planned to keep the design neutral in color with deep greens, incorporating her favorite eucalyptus and large garden roses. She trusted me with the rest, and I even used gorgeous, warm beige-colored carnations as a base for bouquets. Thinking of candlelight shining through her amber glass, I added gold kangaroo paws to mimic the flame. They were a favorite with everyone.

Fun trivia - the bride, myself, and their photographer all graduated from Colorado State University - Go Rams!!

I'm forever grateful to Cassie Rosch, Photographer, for capturing every glorious angle of the flowers and sharing them with me.

For their ceremony under the trees, the groom’s father made a modern steel arbor to frame the space. His creation was a surprise to both the bride and groom, who saw it for the first time on their wedding day. Adding spectacular flowers was a dream.

Whenever possible, I encourage couples to choose a table linen other than the standard white. The simple change to black table cloths with the added amber glass and dark greenery made these tables pop.

Congratulations!

Thank you so much for choosing Whirly Girl Flowers for your wedding and trusting me to bring your floral vision to life! Working with you was a joy. ~ Myca
