A Jewel-toned October Wedding

I love color and knowing that these two wanted a jewel-toned wedding and lots of color made my heart sing a little. It’s not often I get to play with deep reds, purples, and rusty tones for wedding work.

They were married on a glorious October day and Dani Jerry Photography from Buffalo, Wy captured all the glorious love and color.

2020 threw us all for a loop, including a freakishly early frost in early September here in Wyoming. I had planned to include locally grown dahlias in all the arrangements as they’re a favorite of the bride but come October, not a stems was to be found. Thankfully my Denver growers came through with a handful of stems for her bridal bouquet.

Her bridal bouquet included Blueberry and Hearts roses, bronze amaranth, blue thistle, burgundy dahlias, and a few jewel-toned anemones and ranunculus with fragrant bay leaves. Let’s take a deep breath and imagine for a moment?

Due to the pandemic, they changed plans from a larger party to an intimate dinner at the home of the Bride’s family. As a result, we switched their DIY centerpieces to lush, jewel-toned centerpieces in gold vases. These graced the tables at home for dinner.

The Cake Chix from Sheridan, WY provided a spectacular cake and adorned it with flowers to coordinate with the centerpieces and bouquets.

A Brinton Wedding in Burgundy

These lovebirds planned a Wyoming destination wedding at The Brinton Museum from their home in Texas. Through a series of emails and calls, we planned the perfect florals to go along with the romantic and fun vision for their wedding day. With burgundy dahlias, a September staple, pops of peach and accented with blue, their flowers fit the bill. Their day was perfectly captured by Ft. Collins Photographer, Dyann Diercks.

The Brinton is a personal favorite for local venues. From the old farm house with expansive lawns, beautiful gardens and towering mature trees (a favorite for outdoor ceremonies) to the clean modern lines inside the museum and sweeping vistas of prairie and the Big Horn Mountains near the tent- it has a bit of everything.

Carly and Ben shared a sweet first look on the lawn before the ceremony. This is always a personal favorite and his reaction to the first glimpse of his bride is priceless.

Their friends and family traveled from far and wide to celebrate with them here in Sheridan. I think we’d all agree life is better surrounded by those we love and sharing big moments together is even better.

For their reception, I helped them plan and coordinate some DIY centerpieces. They picked a varied set of amber bud vases and bottles to use alongside votive candles. I provided the flower planning, tools and a few instructions and they made some stunning and simple centerpieces. This is a fantastic option for flower enthusiast with a large guest list and moderate budget who have a few helping hands to put it all together.

No post would be complete without a few shots of the bouquet in all it’s glory. I was so thankful for full creative freedom to use the best of the season and make something just for her. This one featured dahlias, peach roses (Shimmer), blue thistle, ranunculus, foxglove and mixed eucalyptus.

Congratulations!

A Fairytale Wedding

Shawn had big dreams for her wedding - a grand entrance, sparkles and plenty of pink. We met through our church and after years of admiring my work - Whirly Girl was one of her first calls when her dashing tugboat captain popped the question. She trusted me with her vision and with some collaboration, incredible local flowers and a little bit of bling, we made those big dreams come true.

Turns out when I decided to follow my heart and move to Wyoming, Shawn took my position at Highrock Church. We had the fun of working together in those last few weeks which  gave me a chance to know her better and craft the perfect wedding florals for their big day.

Our sweet and very talented friend,  Joanne Shih designed a perfect paper/digital suite to compliment the day. Dahlias for the reception were grown locally by the exceptional Five Fork Farms.
