A prairie meets mountain wedding

These two grew up in Sheridan but fell in love while living on the East Coast. They came home for a celebration with their families and friends for a late summer wedding with a mountain and prairie theme. With lavender and dried prairies grass as our color scheme, I had free reign to bring in all the lovely textures August has to offer.

It was a treat to wander a piece of property owned by the bride's family and pick native grasses and other local greenery to mix into her bouquet. In all, the bridal bouquet featured over 20 different flowers, grasses and other greenery including lisianthus, Sahara roses and eucalyptus.

They hosted a sweet ceremony on the Polo Fields at the Big Horn Equestrian Center followed by dinner and dancing under the lights. Even with the heavy wildfire smoke in the background the day was a beauty.

The new corsage

Whirly Girl Flowers

Confession - for years I dreaded making corsages. So much tape, so much ribbon, so uncomfortable to wear and difficult to make. I often put this task off to the very end of my design time and then rushed through it with a sick feeling in my heart. I wasn't excited or proud of what I created, a place no one wants to be.

And then I saw something new. A technique that let the flowers shine. A piece that was classy and comfortable and so cool that I couldn't want to learn. This little beauty from PassionFlower Events started it all for me.

This little beauty starts with a plain brass cuff that I source from another creative in Missouri. Perfect little blooms, interesting textures and bits of greenery are then attached. These cuffs are as durable and as they are beautiful. They can be called a corsage, flower cuff, wearable or flower jewelry. I call them my favorite.

Starting in 2018 I'm exclusively offering these brass corsage cuffs for weddings. The options are endless and I can't wait to make one for you.

I'll admit - I've been dreaming about Valentine's Day flowers since LAST January. At the time, I wasn't sure what Whirly Girl Flowers could look like here in Sheridan, WY. After an incredible year meeting you all, sharing gorgeous flowers at classes and pop-ups, creating one of kind bouquets for some wonderful and trusting brides - I think we're ready to tackle this flower filled holiday together.

While I have a very soft spot in my heart for roses, I won't be offering a dozen red roses this year. I will be offering something romantic and fun, full of my favorite spring colors and high-end flowers. I'm asking you to trust me and your feelings and create something just for your love. A Hot Pink July Wedding

This bright and cheery wedding took place in a historic mansion on the North Shore of Massachusetts. The bride requested more traditional round bouquets in hot pink with pops of yellow and green accents for her Maids and the other flowers for the wedding.

Her bouquet featured coral charm peonies, David Austen garden roses in hot pink along with yellow roses, yarrow, and blushing bride protea. For the ceremony, we had small hanging aisle arrangements and floral accents for their huppah. Guests found individually potted succulents as their place cards before the reception.
